Burnout.superhi.com is an educational site I was inspired to make while taking the visual design and branding course at Superhi, an online project-based education platform for creatives. I've worked in a primary care setting, as a receptionist for a group practice, and work in community mental health and have had feelings of burnout along the way. Many people have reported experiencing similar feelings in the past several years not to mention the concept becoming especially relevant for healthcare professionals during the COVID19 pandemic. The site is geared towards a healthcare perspective and is a psycho-educational overview of the history and differences between the terms secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue, burnout, and vicarious trauma featuring quotes from Trauma Stewardship: An Everyday Guide to Caring for Self while Caring for Others by Laura van Dernoot Lipsky. Visit the site here.
I experimented with blotter.js to create text effects featured on the site's homepage. On each page thereafter is a link to a css animation using gradients that incorporate an analogous color palette that encourages the user to breathe. The fonts used are blackletter fonts, an early form of typography, inspired by the course's lectures on design history.
