As publicist for Chin Music Press, a Seattle-based independent book publisher that specializes in books from and about East Asia, I executed promotional campaigns for two to three titles per season. This involved designing promotional material, managing galley and ARC distribution, creating social media content, writing catalog and jacket copy, developing websites, pitching reviewers, presenting at conferences, and scheduling and promoting author events. My efforts resulted in coverage in influential trade publications ( Publisher’s Weekly , Kirkus Reviews , School Library Journal ), national media ( The New York Times Lens Blog ), popular blogs ( Brain Pickings ), and continued attention from local news outlets ( The International Examiner ). I cold pitched events including appearances by M Thomas Gammarino on the SF in SF podcast as well as publicized, designed fliers for, or organized readings including a performance by author and artist Yoshinori Henguchi at Purlieu Hall and a launch event at Queen Anne Book Company.
